Halogen free materials, IMS and laminates with different types of fillers have a significant impact on the performance and durability of the carbide tools normally used to process printed circuit boards.
The reduction in parameters and shorter tool life have led to a significant increase in production costs.
Many manufacturers have therefore preferred to use diamond-coated tools in order to respond to the increasing yield problems and to compensate for the increase in costs.
